Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Elk Creek Trailers — from custom builds and pricing to delivery, warranty, and daily operation.
Pre-Sale Questions
Every Elk Creek trailer is custom built to order. Most builds fall in the 8–14 week range from deposit to delivery, depending on configuration complexity and current build schedule.
If you have a firm deployment deadline, reach out early — call us at 928-212-2266 and we'll work with you to plan accordingly.
We build systems from 3 to 21+ stations across three size ranges:
- Compact (3–5 stations) — Small events, remote sites, limited-access locations
- Mid-Size (6–10 stations) — Rentals, construction, outreach, disaster response
- High-Capacity (11–21+ stations) — Large events, industrial sites, major deployments
We also build shower trailers, laundry/hygiene systems, and combo units. Every build can be configured for tank-fed, shore power, direct sewer, or fully off-grid operation.
All three trim levels share the same all-steel welded construction. The trim level controls interior finishes and fixtures:
- Commercial — Heavy-duty, easy-clean surfaces. Disaster response, industrial, military, homeless outreach.
- Classic — The most popular for rental fleets and general events. Durable with a clean, comfortable appearance.
- Luxury — VIP events, weddings, film production. Solid surface counters, premium cabinetry, upscale fixtures.
Yes — every trailer is built to your specs. You choose from 15+ exterior colors, three trim levels, floorplan layouts (unisex, men/women split, private exterior doors), tank size, hookup type, and utility configuration.
Optional add-ons include baby changing stations, mechanical rooms, storage rooms, and handwash stations. If you don't see what you need, ask — we design custom builds regularly.
Financing is available for qualified buyers. A restroom trailer is a revenue-producing asset — most rental operators see ROI within 18–24 months even at modest utilization.
See our financing page for full details on in-house and commercial financing, or call 928-212-2266 to discuss your situation.
We've partnered with Routeway Insurance — they specialize in restroom and shower trailer coverage and know how the rental market works. They can quote you in a few minutes and tailor coverage to whether you're an owner-operator, a rental fleet, or somewhere in between.
Delivery costs depend on your location, trailer size, and delivery requirements. We ship throughout the United States.
Contact us with your zip code and the configuration you're interested in and we'll include an accurate delivery quote alongside your build quote.
Elk Creek Trailers is a manufacturer — we build and sell restroom trailer systems, we do not operate a rental fleet. Many of our customers are rental operators who serve events and job sites in their local markets.
If you're looking to start a restroom trailer rental business, we can help you think through trailer selection, market strategy, and growth planning. We've worked with many first-time operators.
For 5-hour events, our general guidelines:
- 0–200 guests — 2–3 station trailer
- 200–500 guests — 4–5 station trailer
- 500–1,000 guests — 6–8 station trailer
- 1,000–2,000 guests — 12–14 station trailer
Events serving alcohol typically increase usage 15–30%. For food or alcohol service events, we recommend increasing capacity by 20–30%. Our systems average ~8 flushes per gallon — 600–800 uses per 100 gallons.
We design each system around what's available on your site. We can build for:
- Power: Shore power or generator-ready
- Water: Tank-fed (self-contained) or site-fed
- Waste: Onboard tanks, external waste systems, or direct sewer hookup
Self-contained builds are available for fully off-grid deployments. Tell us your site conditions and we'll spec the right system.
Owner & Operations Questions
Every Elk Creek trailer ships with a full 2-year warranty covering structural defects and component failures under normal operating conditions — including the welded steel frame, cage, holding tanks, and installed systems.
Damage from misuse, neglect, or unauthorized modifications is not covered. For warranty claims contact us at [email protected] or 928-212-2266.
CommandView™ is included standard on every Elk Creek trailer. It monitors your fresh water tank level, holding tank level, and battery voltage — all accessible from your phone at the touch of a button.
Setup instructions are included with your trailer. See How It Works for video walkthroughs, or contact us at 928-212-2266.
Yes. ADA-accessible configurations are available across all product lines — restroom trailers, shower combos, and laundry/hygiene units.
Our standard ADA door is 40" wide, exceeding the 36" minimum code requirement. Our ADA solutions are practical and field-tested for real sites. Let us know your compliance requirements when configuring your build.
Yes — on select models equipped with our WET transport option. This is a key advantage of our all-steel welded holding tanks. Plastic tanks used by competitors cannot be safely transported when full.
This is especially important for disaster response and military deployments where you may need to relocate mid-deployment. Ask about WET transport availability for your specific configuration.
Every room includes a floor drain and waterproof washout flooring — you can completely hose down the interior. For routine maintenance:
- Monitor and pump the holding tank regularly via CommandView™
- Wipe down interior surfaces and restock dispensers between uses
- Inspect tires, lights, and hitch hardware before each tow
- Touch up any undercoating chips annually to protect against corrosion
A full operator manual ships with every trailer. Contact us for specific maintenance questions.
CommandView™ shows your holding tank level in real time. We recommend pumping before the tank reaches 85% capacity to maintain performance and avoid backpressure.
Pump frequency depends on usage volume. For high-traffic deployments, budget for daily or every-other-day service. A standard vacuum truck (septic service) handles this — the same service used for portable toilets.
Tow requirements depend on the trailer's GVWR. Smaller compact units (3–5 stations) can typically be towed by a heavy-duty pickup. Larger units may require a commercial truck.
We provide full trailer weight specs for your build so you can match it to your tow vehicle. All trailers are Licensed by NHTSA and built to SAE International standards.
Because Elk Creek trailers use commercial-grade, industry-standard components throughout — not proprietary parts — most components are available through local plumbing, electrical, and trailer supply vendors nationwide.
